Basic Auto Policy in Florida:

Basic auto policy has now been replaced by Personal Auto Policy in which there is a combination of both, liability insurance as well as physical damage coverage for the claims that are initiated because of the use or ownership of a vehicle. These days the basic auto policy is still used to insure two-wheel motorized vehicles, and commercial autos.

The Basic auto policy covers the following thing:

• Bodily injury liability:

This covers you and the designated driver if there are any injuries to someone else.

• Property Damage liability:

Under this, you are covered for damages caused to someone else's property.

• Personal injury protection (PIP) or Medical Payments:

In this type of coverage, the policyholder and the passengers are covered for treatment of injuries. Under the Personal injury protection (PIP), you get coverage for lost wages, medical payments and the costs of service, which are usually carried out by someone who is injured in a car accident. In this type of coverage, you are also entitled to get the funeral costs.

• Collision:

In case there is a collision of your car with another car, you will be covered under this type of coverage. This type of coverage comes with a deductible ranging from $250-$1000. Under this type of coverage if you are at fault the insurer will pay the repairing costs. On the other hand, if there is not fault of yours in the accident then the insurer will try to get the entire amount from the insurer of the other driver who is at fault.

• Underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage:

Under this coverage you will be covered for damages if you are hit by a hit-and-run driver or uninsured driver.

• Comprehensive coverage:

In this type of coverage, you are paid for damages to your vehicle that is caused by factors other than a collision. These may include theft, earthquake, and damage due to falling objects, hail, and fire and so on.
